Love Does Not Compel — 5th Sunday of Easter

Amid all the strange and disturbing images in the book of Revelation is this image near the end when God comes to dwell with his people. An image that is beautifully gentle and which resonates with much of God's dealing with us throughout history.

Discerning different voices calling to us is not easy. But Jesus continues to call to us because he knows us and loves us.

The Song of the Lamb — 3rd Sunday of Easter

The book of Revelation can be understood in many ways. One way can be to hear it as a liturgical manual. Revelation lifts up the song of the Lamb, and we are invited to join in the song with all of creation.

Thomas needed to see Jesus to believe. Jesus calls all who believe without seeing blessed. While we have not seen Jesus, we are not left completely on our own.

Embarrassment of Riches — Maundy Thursday

Readings: John 13:1-7, 31b-35 1Corinthians 11:23-26

Maundy  Thursday recalls Jesus washing his disciples' feet and the institution of the Lord's Supper. For us, it is an embarrassment of riches that God gives to us for us.
